Alafia River, Brandon, Florida >

The growing Alafia River State Park trail network features 17 miles of trails winding through the Florida forest about 30 minutes southeast of Tampa. The park includes rolling terrain, riverside routes, and several miles of technical quarry riding. With close to a dozen creek crossings and bridges, this is not your typical Florida landscape. Nearby Boyette Park adds another 15 miles of connected trail. The IMBA-affiliated Southwest Association of Mountain Bike Pedalers (SWAMP) has been instrumental in developing the Alafia trails. The non-profit group has donated more than 4,000 hours of volunteer trailwork during the past two years and built more than 15 miles of new trails with help from the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew. The Florida State Park System has supported the work with tools and materials.

Travel approximately one mile to CR-672, turn east and continue approximately 11 miles until it dead-ends at SR-39. Turn north and travel 1.5 miles to Alafia River State Park entrance. From Orlando: take I-4 West, exit #13 Plant City, travel south on SR-39 approximately 20 miles. Alafia River State Park entrance on east side of road. From Sarasota: take I-75 North, exit #48 Sun City Center, travel east approximately 13 miles on CR-674.
